Coolify needs a server with root or SSH access, enough memory for its services and your workloads, and CPU headroom for builds. We require at least 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM, then rank eligible plans by total cost, developer features, reliability, network quality and support. Ordinary shared and WordPress hosting cannot replace a VPS with the required server control.

OVHcloud combines root access at about $5.08 monthly with managed database options for workloads you want outside your Coolify server.
Plan: VPS-1 (2027)Hostinger gives you root access and chat support at about $10.99 monthly, with database administration left to you.
Plan: KVM 2Akamai Cloud offers managed databases alongside your Coolify VPS, with ticket, email, phone and chat support.
Plan: Linode 4 GBVultr pairs root access with managed database options at about $20 monthly, with ticket and email support.
Plan: vc2-2c-4gbDigitalOcean supports a root-access Coolify server and separate managed databases, with ticket and chat support for hosting issues.
Plan: Basic Regular 4 GiBContabo provides root access for Coolify at about $4.93 monthly, with ticket and email support.
Plan: Cloud VPS 4Hetzner gives you root access and ticket, email and phone support, suited to teams comfortable managing their own databases.
Plan: CPX22Providers change prices often, and we regularly verify prices against their own pricing pages, though small differences from current prices are possible. Prices checked 27 Sept 2026. Ranking uses US dollars at a fixed exchange rate; see the methodology.
Treat 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM as the entry threshold for this comparison. Coolify, the operating system, application containers, databases and background workers all consume memory. Dependency installation and image builds can push CPU and memory usage well above normal serving demand, so size for deployments while your apps remain active. Move up a plan when builds trigger memory exhaustion, sustained swapping or slower responses under load. Moving builds to CI or a database to a separate service can free capacity. Watch disk usage too, since images, build caches, logs and database files accumulate.
Ordinary shared hosting does not give you the server control needed to install and operate Coolify. Choose a VPS with root access over SSH and permission to run Docker; an SSH login alone does not guarantee those capabilities.
This comparison requires at least 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPU. Your actual requirement depends on the apps, databases and workers you run, plus the extra resources needed during builds.
No, you can run a database on your Coolify server and manage it yourself. A separate managed database can reduce local resource pressure and some administration work, but adds cost and a network dependency.
Root access and hosting support do not establish that Coolify management is included. Unless your service explicitly includes it, plan to handle server updates, Coolify maintenance, application troubleshooting and backups yourself.
Yes, redeploying application code does not restore database contents or uploaded files. Keep backups outside the VPS and test recovery, including the configuration and secrets your apps need.
